"We can make a positive impact on the world and leave a lasting legacy"

The story of Korach is found in the parashah that bears his name. This is a cautionary tale, from the Torah, about the dangers of jealousy and the importance of finding one’s purpose. Korach, a Levite and first cousin of Moshe and Aaron becomes resentful of their leadership roles and begins to gather a group of followers to challenge their authority.

In his pursuit of power, Korach loses sight of his own purpose and the role he was meant to play in the community. He becomes so consumed with jealousy and ambition that he is unable to see the value in the work that Moshe and Aaron are doing, and ultimately, he and his followers are punished for their rebellion.

The lesson we can learn from this story is the importance of finding our own purpose and staying true to it, rather than becoming consumed with jealousy and envy of others. Each of us has a unique role to play in the world, and it is up to us to discover what that role is and pursue it with passion and dedication.

In order to find our purpose, we must first look inward and reflect on our own values, strengths, and passions. We must also be open to feedback and guidance from others, and be willing to make adjustments along the way as we learn and grow.

In addition, Orrin Woodward writes in his book “Resolved” 13 Resolutions for Life, that you can find your purpose at the intersection of three things, passion, potential, and profit. He says that “all great achievements must be maintained through passion; otherwise, the criticisms, setbacks, and pressures will eventually wear achievers down. For potential, he writes that all of us have unique gifts and skills. Each one of us has abilities that can benefit the world. As for profits, he writes that profit is the result of turning one’s potential and passion into a fruitful calling.

Ultimately, the story of Korach teaches us that true fulfillment and success come not from seeking power or recognition, but from living a life that is aligned with our purpose and values. When we are able to find and pursue our purpose with dedication and humility, we can make a meaningful impact on the world and leave a lasting legacy.
